This Wednesday, Manchester City of England beat Real Madrid of Spain 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in a Champions League match that the visitors won due to their greater efficiency and two specific errors by the Madrid defense.

The match began with intensity, a high tempo, and Real Madrid determined to impose their pressure from the outset. That pressure paid off in the 28th minute when Rodrygo capped off a swift counter-attack with a low, driven shot across goal that ignited the Bernabéu crowd. In that early stage, the Brazilian was the spark that ignited the team.

However, the joy was short-lived. In the 35th minute, a poorly defended corner led to a header from Gvardiol that Courtois couldn't control. The rebound fell to Nico O'Reilly, who easily tapped the ball into the net to make it 1-1. The goal unsettled Real Madrid emotionally, and they lost their composure in possession, leaving themselves vulnerable.

In the second half, City managed the game better. Patiently, they controlled possession, waited for a mistake… and found it. Around the half-hour mark, Rüdiger committed a clumsy handball inside the area. Erling Haaland calmly converted the penalty with his characteristic composure, powerfully and accurately, for the decisive 2-1.

The final stretch saw Real Madrid pushing forward with pride, sending in crosses and long-range shots, while the Bernabéu crowd tried to hold onto their hopes. But City, solid and composed, closed down the spaces and prevented the home side from finding an equalizer.

The English left with a victory that puts them at the top and leaves Real Madrid with growing questions, especially in the back line, where mistakes once again proved too costly.
